and shipping company. The company is in contact with over 7000 customers
during the year.
Business Need and Solution:
Alliance Shipping had been using a FoxPro database to track customers
and realized that it was limiting. They needed an automated system
that could convert the data from FoxPro and provide contact management,
lead tracking, and scheduling. They needed a customized layout and
new fields to be added as well as custom reports. They were introduced

Answer Financial Inc. is a financial services company, based in Los
Angeles that markets web-based employee benefits to employer groups,
associations and other affinity groups nationwide. They are committed
to fulfilling the company's goals of providing the widest array of
products and services in the industry by using state of the art technology.
Business Need and Solution:
Answer Financial's (AFI) contacts are the decision makers at the employer
groups, associations and affinity groups. AFI needed an automated
system that could provide contact management, lead tracking, and scheduling.
They needed a customized solution that could incorporate new datafields
tracked by AFI and redesign the layouts to reflect the new fields.
In addition, AFI needed customized reports to track the specific needs
of management. They were introduced to ACT! by Sage by Contactivation.
Currently, AFI has 15 remote salespeople, 5 telemarketers and 5 management
personnel using ACT! by Sage and it has been in use since 1998. Leads are
generated by the telemarketing group and the contacts and activities
are transferred to the remote salespeople via Synchronization. Activities
are recorded and tracked in ACT! by Sage and updates are regularly sent back
to the corporate office via Synchronization. Management runs reports
to view activity levels and sales pipelines. AFI is taking full advantage
of ACT! by Sage's many features including scheduling, synchronization, sales
and opportunities, reports, and groups.

GE Industrial Systems, a subsidiary of General Electric (GE), based
in Duluth, GA, is the worlds largest supplier of product and service
solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional and
utility applications.
Business Need and Solution:
GE Industrial Systems has 15 salespeople (in-office and remote) in
the U.S. and Canada and approximately 3 management and administrative
people. GE Industrial Systems was utilizing Microsoft Outlook and
Excel to manage customer relationships and track RFP information and
other sales information. GE Industrial Systems needed a more robust
contact management system that gave the salespeople in the field a
more user-friendly and complete solution for tracking customers and
its associated activities. Management wanted a solution that would
remove a lot of the manual processes (and redundancies) currently
being utilized by everyone. They were introduced to Contactivation.
Contactivation customized ACT! by Sage to meet the needs of GE Industrial
Systems. By adding additional fields to ACT! by Sage and creating new layouts,
Contactivation was able to eliminate the various Excel forms generated
by the salespeople and administrative staff, thus reducing many hours
of work each week. Contactivation also created several reports to
meet the needs of everyone. Management uses the Sales Pipeline module
to monitor the sales process through the various reports.
Contactivation also set up the Synchronization module to allow the
Master database to send and receive updates from the various users.
Additionally, Contactivation trained the entire group to not only
help each person understand the product but to also show him how he
benefited by using ACT! by Sage.

InfoMart-USA, based in Atlanta, is the nations largest Applicant
Screening company used by Fortune 500 companies. InfoMart is consistently
recognized for its commitment to quality and customer service.
Business Need and Solution:
InfoMart-USA has an internal database, WinASAP, that tracks data
on its corporate customers. WinASAP is a clipper-dialect database
that doesn't have any contact management capabilities. InfoMart-USA
needed an automated system that could interface with WinASAP and provide
contact management, lead tracking and scheduling. They needed a customized
solution that could incorporate the many datafields tracked by WinASAP
and redesign the layouts to reflect the new fields. They were introduced
to ACT! by Sage by Contactivation.
InfoMart-USA has 15 internal personnel (customer service and management)
using ACT! by Sage Customer information is exported from WinASAP to ACT! (via
a customized program) to the first department and then synchronized
with a second ACT! database in another department, a couple of times
each day. Both departments schedule activities, add notes, send emails
and write letters to the over 8000 customers during the day. At the
end of the day both databases must mirror each other and they do through
ACT! by Sage's synchronization module.

Verisign software provides digital certificates of authentication
used to encrypt data and protect access to data and transactions sent
over the Internet and large networks. VeriSign has worked with such
companies as Microsoft, Visa, and American Express to deploy electronic
safeguards for online activities that include e-mail, home banking,
and credit card purchases. VeriSign is expanding internationally and
is tapping a new stream of clients from its subsidiary, Internet domain
registrar Network Solutions.
Business Need and Solution:
Verisign's Atlanta office needed to purchase a corporate license for
the 15 salespeople. Versign contacted Contactivation and received
their 15-user license in 2 days turnaround at a substantial discount
from retail.
